Following the cozy Mehndi a few days prior was Laila & Phil's elaborate Reception. The day started and ended at The Garden Banquet Hall. I've seen very few lobbies that make me go "WOAH" when I walk in. Garden was one of them.
The morning portion of the day was the Nikkah or rather the religious ceremony in which Laila and Phil officially became husband and wife. The Imam's speech had me mesmerized. Nothing was more beautiful than watching two distinct cultures coming together for the common reason & goal.
After the Nikkah ceremony was done, everyone knew that the fun just started and the night would be alive. The entrances were one to remember. Lead by a team of Men in Black, the couple's family entered. It's rare to see that much joy in everyone's eyes as they made their entrance...and then the couple appeared. I quite literally had to cover my ears for a couple of seconds because of the cheers from everyone. Wow. What a moment!
The night went on with a slew of highly talented performances. There was a call for an encore from the Mehdni performance..only this time it was 10 times more epic. My favourite part was when the groom got up and joined the choreographed dance. The man can move!
The speeches...oh boy. Felt like someone sprayed the hall with..onion juice! I couldn't tell whether the speeches were full of tears or sheer bliss. Maybe both. The love for these two was evident..not only from their closest family but from everyone in the room. It is my goal to keep in touch with this family for a very long time..Laila & Phil are the kind of friends you just have to have!
It was an honor & privilege being a part of Laila & Phil's very important day.
Enjoy the moments...
